How to reach Lyon

By train

Lyon is a large railway hub, one of principal nodes of European network. Three TGV (French high-speed train) stations (Part-Dieu, Perrache and Satolas) serve Lyon.

By plane

The Lyon-Satolas airport (phone : +33 4 72 22 71 27) has direct flights to/from most of Europeans airports. It has its own TGV station. The airport is only 30 minutes from the center of Lyon by freeway.

In addition, the SATOBUS shuttle links the airport to the city of Lyon, with departures every 20 minutes. Fare: 48 FF (single ticket) - 85 FF (return ticket).

Shuttle stops:

  • Mermoz-Pinel (8th arrond.): 15 mn
  • Grange-Blanche (8th arrond.): 20 mn
  • Part-Dieu gare TGV(3rd arrond.): 30 mn
  • Perrache gare TGV (2nd arrond.): 40 mn
  • N.B.: Taxi fare: around 190 FF (day time) and 280 FF (night time). No credit cards in taxis.

    Lyon is a crossroad, located at the heart of an extremely dense road and freeway network. You can reach Lyon:

  • From Paris: in 4-5 hours (highway A6)
  • From the South of France: in about 3 hours (highway A7)
  • From the Alps: in less than 2 hours (highway A40)
  • From Geneva: in less than 2 hours (highway A41)

    How to reach Hôtel de Lyon Métropole

    Lines 40 and 43 stop at Hôtel de Lyon Métropole (stop: Lyon Plage). You can catch these buses from the following stops:

  • Pêcherie
  • Pt Maréchal Juin
  • St Paul
  • Homme de la Roche
  • Pt Koeing R.D.
  • Quai Gillet
  • Pt Clémenceau
  • Pt Mazaryk
  • Rue d'Ypres
  • It takes about 12 minutes from Pêcherie to Lyon Plage. The nearest subway stations from these bus stops are:

  • Vieux Lyon
  • Hôtel de Ville
  • For information:

  • One bus/subway ticket: around 7 FF valid for one trip
  • A special ticket "Ticket Liberté" offers an unlimited access to all the network for 24 FF per day.
  • N.B.: Warning, if you want to buy your ticket in the bus, no change given, be sure to have the exact change.
